Principles for a Safer Space
Etusivu > Artsi Museum > Principles for a Safer Space
Artsi is a discrimination-free area. We do not accept racism, ageism, sexism, heterosexism, transphobia, ableism, class discrimination, comments about people's bodies, or other oppressive behaviour.
We make a shared commitment to respect these principles and we will intervene in inappropriate behaviour.
We make no assumptions about each other, for example, as regards gender, background, ethnicity culture, sexual orientation, unique abilities or disabilities, or financial situation.
In problem situations please contact Artsi’s staff. We will try to help to the best of our ability.
Artsi’s public events
Artsi’s safer space rules are intended to make public events supportive, inclusive and safer. Violence and discrimination will not be not tolerated.
Every one of us is responsible for making the space safer. It is good to bear in mind that a safer space is always a compromise and that what you do affects how safe others feel.
We do not make assumptions about each other – every participant has the right to self-determination. Try to be aware of your own assumptions, talk about your own experience, not on behalf of others.
Do feel free to ask questions – there are no right or wrong questions.
Let’s guide each other, have conversations, and be open to new viewpoints.
Accept any criticism that you receive and adjust your behaviour when necessary.
Let’s use language that everyone understands and remember that everyone contributes to the discussion from their own starting points.
If you take photographs, make sure everyone in the picture consents.
If a situation feels uncomfortable, it is possible to leave the situation or to raise the issue for discussion. Artsi’s staff are also there to support you.
